Classic Quilts December Social- Highlights

Hello Friends!

In case you didn’t know, Classic Quilts is growing a community. We started this in 2021 calling this space as the All Friends Sewing Hub- a place for sewists to learn and a place for sewists to share.

Month by month, we run our meetups called as SEWCIALS (pronounce it as SOCIAL). Today I wanted to blog about our December meeting.

It was by far our best organized, and our most attended meeting. The rules were simple

  • Come in festive colors (red or green being the main colors of choice)
  • Bring something you have sewn (to show and inspire- this is optional, and is always encouraged)
  • Spend some time together to make friends with people who are in the same HOBBY as you!

The Christmas Sewcial has left us BUZZING! Here are some quick snippets of what we experience yesterday (14th December 2022)

  • Sew and Tell – We had nearly 14 ladies showing and telling their projects. This segment was originally slotted for 30 minutes but we landed up having 70 minutes of non stop parading of all kinds of sewn projects! The inspiration level was at an all time high. Thank you SO MUCH everyone- we are in full admiration!
  • Guest Speaker- Maria Davies-Roberts shared a lot about her sewing journey with us. She is quite adventurous with her projects- often swaying between quilts and dressmaking. We definitely learnt from her that sewing is a hobby of love- as most of her projects are always presented to friends and family as gifts. Thank you Maria for reminding us how gratifying it is to be a creator
  • Fun Activity: We ended with a game of Quilter’s Bingo! Lots of fun with everyone! Thank you for those of you who came and celebrated Christmas with us!

Our next sewcial will run on Wednesday at 10AM on the 18th of January, 2023. Please save the dates and keep following us for updates
